Augmented Reality - Revolutionizing the Gaming Experience
Introduction
I love gaming and I’m amazed by how tech changes the way we play. One of the newer techs is Augmented Reality (AR). This helps make our games feel real and exciting. Come with me as we explore AR in gaming, see what it can do, and how it’s changing our gaming world and will continue to do so for many more years.
What is AR in Gaming?
Augmented Reality in gaming is tech that basically gives you first person experience in a world that feels so real. Imagine playing a game where you're literally inside one of the biggest football stadiums such as the Allianz Arena or Camp Nou playing a Champions League Final and you see everything moving past you or footballers passing you a ball right to your feet, sounds interesting doesn't it? Or imagine yourself in the middle of World War 2 fighting for your nation, holding the biggest guns possible as you shoot at enemies and as you run away from enemy attacks, all that can be recreated using AR (Augmented Reality)
What skills are Needed for me to make AR games?
In my second year at Eduvos, I’ll be using a lot of JavaScript to make AR games. JavaScript is like the foundation of the game. I’ll use loops to do things over and over again, and control logic to make choices in the code. I’ll also use a method called Object-Oriented Programming in JavaScript. This lets me group my code into ‘objects’ that can work together. It’s a bit like having different players in a game, each with their own skills.
UX Development implementation in gaming
In my first year in Eduvos, I’ve learned that UI/UX development is really important. It’s about making the game’s interface from a design. I take a design, like a drawing or a detailed plan, and make it into the real interface that players use. For example, let's say I have a sketch of a game menu, I can use it to make the real menu that players see. Or if I have a plan for a character selection screen, I make it into the real screen where players pick their characters or guns if they are playing shooting games like Call of Duty or Apex Legends.
